Your best bet is to go with some kind of build that the heroes can't use well, or can't use at all. Heroes can be built to stomp PvE all on their own, and anything you do to fuel them in that department is probably going to be subpar. It's best to just do something that only a human player could do, which most likely means abusing PvE skills as much as you can.

Warriors are fun with heroes. I know its stupid, but one of the funnest things I have played in probably the past 2 years was my W/A when RoJ wasnt nerfed. Wait till they mobbed up, enraging charge FGJ, deaths charge, hit, flail, hit. By this time I was nearly dead and my heroes caught up, spamming Reversal of Damage, Smite Condition, Hex, and then RoJ. I was under strength of honor, and splinter weapon with s&m or whirlwind attack. Mobs got blown up big time. Unfortunately thye nerfed RoJ, but its still fun to suicide ccharge as a warrior, or see the big damage. SoS smiters are gud support with splinter, sos, and soh on the one bar. Tis gud fun.
Generally I run fun, but retarded builds with my heroes, like on my monk i used to run AP + YMLAD + EVAS + FH! + Deaths Charge + Stonesoul Strike + Iron Palm + Stonesouls twin. I ran this before discordway became popular or was buffed.
My ranger played pet builds before the buffs etc.
Now there is no way htese are the most efficient option out there, but they were really fun to play.

Make an Assassin and get three Necro heroes. Then you can go back and forth between Moebius for Sabway or AP Caller for Discordway however you feel.

Some classes are better than others, but all classes are viable. Despite what you may think, whats most important is tactics; not builds or strategy. Pulling and spiking become much more important in H/H.
It is possible to beat the hardest dungeons in the game with builds that are deemed subpar, even when 99.9% of people would struggle with that area.
So my advice is to simply pick whichever profession appeals the most to you, conceptually. Lurk around and see what kind of builds people run. Pick one and stick with it.

I have an imbagon already, with access to all the elite areas. But SY is the least interesting skill in the entire goddamn game and if I never use it again, it'll be too soon.
I'm looking at a nec, a ranger, or a sin, at the moment.

Assassin.
Not only is his damage output as a physical completely insane, he also comes with 4 pips of energy regen and Assassin's Promise built into the class - which means you are able to switch between a physical and a caster at any given moment.

This pretty much. Assassins are ludicrous at putting out damage and heroes can be built around them perfectly. Not too much thought on this one.

@OP - You could go the same-old same-old xxxway build if you can't figure out your own "way", but you sound more like someone who wants to dot it their "way" rather than follow the herd.
One class that you might consider would be Ranger with a B/P type H&H group. Basically, You plus 2 ranger heroes, plus an MM hero, plus 2 monk henchies, a ranger henchie, and one other henchie (fire, blood, w/e floats yer boat.). Make one of your heroes an interrupt ranger and bring Favorable Winds. Lots of room to experiment.
Another would be Ritualist. You can solo lots of NM with just a Rit spirit spammer. Add an MM and monk hero, and your good to go even more areas. Add another dps (fire ele) and some henchies and go HM.
I've only just recently started using my Rit as an SoS spirit spammer, so I'm still working on what heroes/henchies to bring.

I've tried of a lot of the xxxway builds, just to get an idea of what they have going on. I took a big pass on Sabway, though, I don't like Spiteful Spirit for H/H work.
I'm working up an assassin now, trying to get her ass off Shing Jae island and getting her some heroes so I can give Strength of Honor a spin.
